2025 Wheatland Center School Mathletes

Wheatland students were ready for an extra challenge at the Regional Math Meet that was held at UW Whitewater on January 8, 2025. Students in grades fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth competed against students from seven different schools in the division based on the 2024-25 school enrollment. Members of the fifth and sixth grade team were:  Maximus Borre, Tyler Epping, Charlie Wisneski, Abigail Zavacke, Jack Cavanaugh, Kaydence Novak, Gursevak Toor and Sawyer VanDommelen.  Members of the seventh and eighth grade team were:  Jaena Baumeister, Aaron Crane, Austyn Madaus, Addison McCann, Mila Coe, Shane Day, Mattaline Konrad and Tyson Meracle. 

Students participated in the following events:  Problem Solving (without calculators), Consumer Math (with calculators), Geometric Reasoning (with calculator), Mental Math (without calculator) and Team Problem Solving (with calculator). Every member of the team worked diligently to solve the complex problems within each event.  The top scorer for 5th grade was Charlie Wisneski and for 6th grade was Gursevak Toor. The top scorer for 7th grade was Austyn Madaus and for 8th grade was Tyson Meracle.  

Students had the opportunity to showcase their teamwork by delegating responsibilities in order to successfully complete a variety of math challenges during the Team Problem Solving event.  The 7/8 team placed 2nd overall and will participate in the State Mega Meet on May 27, 2025 at Madison College. Congratulations to the 2025 Wheatland Math Team for their efforts on both the individual and team events. Go Warhawks!
